Prayer is the Key

There is no more significant activity for the Christian than prayer. The Bible declares that men should always pray. Jesus showed through His perfect life, the value and importance of prayer. Prayer is a weapon against the enemy and more importantly it is a necessary component in having a relationship with God. Is it any wonder why Christians have such a difficult time setting time aside to pray? Anybody who has been to church has heard about prayer. So it is no secret by any stretch of the imagination, that we should be praying. The reason we always seem to get distracted, or are too busy, or run out of time when it comes to prayer is this: the enemy knows the value of prayer! How does he know? He's seen the power of prayer for many many years. He knows what it's like to have God move in response to prayer. He knows first hand the power that an individual has when they pray. Many of Satan's best laid plans have been destroyed because of the power of prayer. As a matter of fact, some of you may have experienced the thwarting of the enemy as a result of prayer. He thought he had you right where he wanted you, but he couldn't handle prayer. Many of you are where you are because somebody prayed for you. I'm so glad that even when it doesn't seem like anybody is praying for me when I'm going through some tough times, that Jesus has already prayed for me. He declared to Peter in the book of Luke (22:32), that He had prayed for him that his faith would fail not. This prayer was addressed to Peter, but it didn't stop with Peter. Jesus has already prayed for us that our faith would not fail, especially when we are going through.

The last thing the enemy wants for you to have is victory. Victory over him, victory over your flesh, victory over death, victory over your finances, victory in your home,... (I think you get the drift). When you pray, you have one on one time with God Himself. Time where you can talk to Him and more importantly, He can talk to you. In trying times like these, you really need to be in fellowship with God. Life brings so many things to us at the same time, that we often feel unable to cope. That's why God wants you to stop trying to cope and learn how to pray. When you don't know what to do, pray. When you do know what to do, pray. When you feel alone, pray. When you feel surrounded by love, pray. Pray when you are up and when you are down. Pray when you are happy and when you are sad. Pray when everything is going your way and when it seems like everything you touch gets broken. There is never a bad time to pray and the good news is that God is always available to you. If there is one thing that we need to give attention to, it's our prayer life. How's your daily talk time with your Father in heaven? There's no time like the present to talk to Him. He's waiting on you, so what are you waiting for?
